It's now official that deejay Blak Ryno, one of the Portmore Empire's top guns, has officially left the Gaza.

Earlier this week rumours had begun circulating once again that Ryno had officially left the Empire. The deejay, however, contacted THE STAR to confirm that as of yesterday, he is no longer in the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire.

Born Romaine Anderson, Ryno has been a member of the Portmore Empire since January 2007, where he was officially signed to Kartel's Adidjaheim Records and made his name with songs such as Thugs Anthem,Bend Over among others.

With a raunchy video circulating on the Internet, dancehall artiste Ms Thing says she has no problem appearing nude in the raw version of her Bonify music video.

The sexually explicit video for the song, which is a collaboration with Psycho Tanbad, surfaced on the Internet recently. The video was done by Terminal 4 Media, while the song was produced by Dre Skull, from New York.

BBC recognises Wasp's 'Cry Fi Haiti'

Singjay Wasp is getting international attention for the remake of his song Cry Fi Dem as a tribute to Haiti after it was recently struck by a massive earthquake.

Wasp says the Haitian remake of the song, which was released over the weekend, has already got airplay on BBC and has gained him attention from other overseas media. The original song Cry Fi Dem was released in October of 2009 and according to Wasp, it got a good response. Now after the earthquake, which was the largest Haiti has suffered in more than 200 years, Wasp has changed some of the lines to suit the occasion and dubbed the remake Cry Fi Haiti.

The 'Boops' rhythm has returned. This time however the track has a new generation of artistes giving the old rhythm a different twist.

Boops by Super Cat was made popular in the 1980s and was a massive hit cementing Supercat's place in reggae history and also that of the late producer Steely of the Cleevie and Steely duo. 'Boops' rhythm was remade and re-released late December 2009 by producer Shane Brown of Juke Boxx Productions.

Following Saturday night's Guinness Sound of Greatness 2009 Grand Final between Bass Odyssey and Sound Trooper, held at Mas Camp, Oxford Road, in New Kingston, Ricky Trooper has spoken out, claiming, "A nuh Bass Odyssey beat mi, a Jah beat mi."

According to Trooper, he should never have played against Bass Odyssey in the first place.

Saturday night's Guinness Sounds of Greatness finals turned out to be a very one-sided affair, Bass Odyssey scoring 520 points to Sound Trooper's 264.

In the early going, though, after Bass Odyssey with Damion up front went first in the half-hour juggling, or party, round and did a competent but far less than outstanding job, the opening was clearly there for Sound Trooper to stamp their dominance.

Producer Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor has released a song confirming rumours of a rift between his Big Ship camp and deejay Vybz Kartel with the release of his first solo single Cyaa Friend Again.

For months, rumours have been circulating in the streets and in the media that the producer and the deejay had ended their musical relationship with neither party confirming the rift - until now. In November, Kartel released Rifle Shot in which he insults McGregor which was followed by Blak Ryno's Empty where he, too, took aim at the Big Ship camp.

On Tuesday, there was much focus on a song Lisa Hype did called Sting Aftermath. In it, she insulted several artistes including Spice, Ishawna, Baby Tash, Tifa, Twin of Twins, Stacious and Timberlee. And, she claimed to be the best performer on Sting, which was held at Jamworld Entertainment
